Speech Competition rules
- The speech competition will have two parts, a written component and delivery component. The speech writer must deliver the speech. It may not be delegated to another person for delivery.
- Speeches will be assessed by a panel of three judges, after which the six best speeches will be selected for delivery at the final round of the competition.
- Speeches delivered for the finals must be done within 8 to 10 minutes.
- Each entrant will submit a speech on the topic: ‘Workplace Policies Addressing HIV and AIDS will Improve Acceptance of People Living with HIV at Work’.
- The deadline for submission of the speech is Friday 10th January 2014 at 12:00 noon by email to hivcompetition@labour.gov.bb. Absolutely no hard copies will be accepted. No names or identifiers of entrants should be placed in the speech. Names should only be placed on the entry form.
- Where research is done, sources should be referenced. Penalties will apply for plagiarism.
- The announcement of the six finalists will be done by email on Monday 3rd February 2014, but not later than Tuesday 4th February, 2014.
- The six finalists will deliver their speeches on Thursday 13th February, 2014 before a panel of three judges and an audience.
- The decision of the judges is final. No discussion will be entertained regarding points awarded.

- Entrants are advised to do a website search for unaids terminology guidelines (revised October 2011), which should be consulted for use in the speech.
- All participants are invited to the finals.
