The public is advised that, under the Minimum Wage Act 2017-4, it is the intention of the Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations to introduce (1) a national minimum wage and (2) a Sectoral Minimum Wage in Barbados with effect from April 1, 2021.

The public is advised that the proposed Minimum Wage Order may be obtained from here and the Blue-ribbon Advisory Committee Report here.

The public is also advised that the Minimum Wage Act at Section 7 (2) (b) allows for a period of no less than 40 days from the date of the initial notification, during which objections may be received.

Objections to the proposed Minimum Wage Order should be forwarded to the Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations by March 17, 2021 via email at CLO@labour.gov.bb.

Section 7 (3) states that a person objecting to the making of a Minimum Wage Order shall forward his objection to the Minister, and that objection shall state:
(a) the grounds for his objection;
(b) the nature of his interest in the matter; and
(c) any additions or amendments which should be made to the Order.
