
Certified hairstylists who wish to work internationally may pursue this opportunity with the Barbados Employment and Career Counselling Service (BECCS).
BECCS, which falls under the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector, is inviting applications from suitably qualified Barbadians for employment as hairstylists in Canada.
Interested applicants must be licensed and experienced male or female hairstylists, who are at least 18 years old, with not less than one year’s work experience in the field. They should also be proficient in cutting and styling a variety of textures, including fine, straight, thick, and curly hair.
Applicants must also be capable of advising clients on hair care, beauty products, and suitable hairstyles, while demonstrating creativity in delivering unique and memorable looks. The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is also essential, along with strong client consultation skills to understand individual needs and preferences.
Successful candidates will be required to adhere to and maintain established hygiene and safety standards within their workspaces, as well as when they are using tools and equipment. Applicants must also provide proof of certification in hairstyling or a related discipline and submit an e-portfolio, including a link to hairstyles showcased on a social media platform.
In addition, they must possess a valid Barbados passport, a clean Police Certificate of Character, and must be free of any infractions outside the jurisdiction of Barbados.
