75 Years: 1940 – 2015: Promoting justice in employment 

CALL FOR PAPERS 

As part of the celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Labour Department, in collaboration with stakeholders, will be hosting a series of symposia on the life and work of six (6) of Barbados’ National Heroes identified as National Heroes of Labour. A series of 3 symposia is contemplated each with respect to two National Heroes as paired below:

The Right Excellent Dr. Charles Duncan O’Neal

The Right Excellent Clement Osbourne Payne

The Right Excellent Sir Grantley Adams

The Right Excellent Sir Hugh Springer

The Right Excellent Sir Frank Walcott

The Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow.

In support of this, the Labour Department is inviting the submission of papers by interested persons: students, educators, academics and the general public, on the life and work of each of the National Heroes identified as it relates to advancing the causes of the labour. 

This call is open to residents and non-residents, nationals and non-nationals of Barbados.

The purpose of the symposia and the proposed Compendium of Labour Heroes of Barbados is to the raise public awareness and broaden the base of knowledge on the life and work of the National Heroes identified.

Papers submitted will be considered for presentation at the relevant symposia and for inclusion in a proposed Labour Department 75th Anniversary compendium on Barbados’ National Heroes of Labour.

The schedule for the staging of the symposia and the date for submission of papers is set out below:

Full papers with an abstract of not more than 200 words should be sent to:

Authors are asked to register their intention to submit a paper at least one month before the submission date. Ideally, papers should be submitted in the font Times New Romam with font size 12 and single spaced.

Note however that these are desirable but not compulsory.
