Notice of Intention
Increase in the National Minimum Wage and the Sectoral Minimum Wage for Security Guards
The public is hereby advised that the Minister of Labour, Social Security and Third Sector intends to increase the national minimum wage and the sectoral minimum wage for security guards by two percent (2%) with effect from Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in accordance with the Minimum Wage Act, 2017-4.
The public is advised that the proposed Minimum Wage Order may be obtained from here.
The proposed Minimum Wage (National and Sectoral Minimum Wage) Order is available for review and download on the Ministry’s website at labour.gov.bb and on the Government Information Service’s website at gisbarbados.gov.bb.
In keeping with Section 7(2)(b) of the Act, objections to the proposed Order must be submitted within forty (40) days of the publication of this notice. Objections should therefore be forwarded no later than Sunday, January 18, 2026 to ps@labour.gov.bb, mrsu@labour.gov.bb and clo@labour.gov.bb.
In accordance with Section 7(3) of the Act, any objection to the Order must state:
- the grounds for the objection;
- the nature of the objector’s interest in the matter; and
- any specific additions or amendments proposed to the Order.
