The Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations will host a workshop on Workforce Preparation and Progression next Thursday, June 27.

It will be held at the UWI Cave Hill School of Business, Cave Hill, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Workforce Preparation and Progression is expected to be one of the key pillars of the second phase of Government’s Human Resource Development (HRD) Strategy Programme, before the end of this financial year.

This is in response to feedback from both private and public sector employers, in relation to the lack of preparedness and readiness seen on the part of students, as they transition from school to the world of work.

As part of the workshop, there will also be a panel discussion, which will include panelists drawn from the public and private sectors, as well as non-governmental organizations.

Additionally, there will be an audience comprising a cross-section of stakeholders from educational institutions, private sector employers and key stakeholders from various government departments, who have been invited by the ministry to participate in a question and answer segment.

Moderator for the session will be Human Resource Director of Barbados Light & Power, Natalie Abrahams, who is also a member of the HRD Advisory Council of the HRD Strategy.
