In its early stages, breast cancer usually has no symptoms. As a tumor develops, you may notice a lump in the breast or underarm that persists after your menstrual cycle; often the first apparent symptom of breast cancer. Breast lumps are painless although some may cause a prickly sensation.

GHS Logo Competition

Background

The purpose of this competition is to create a logo for the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.  The logo must interestingly depict the following.

  1. The Problem. At present, chemicals hazards are not adequately communicated.  Therefore, persons who handle, store, transport, use or dispose of chemicals are at risk of having their health or the productive value of their environment negatively impacted.
  2. The Solution.  Utilize the GHS as a means to increase hazard communication.  This would allow persons to make informed decisions regarding how they use chemicals and thereby reduce risks to the environment and to themselves.
  3. 3.   Call to Action. Encourage persons to become familiar with the GHS communication tools, namely, pictograms, labels and SDSs.

Some information about the GHS is provided in the figures below but participants are encouraged to conduct further research on their own.
