I would love to be able to get a drivers permit online. The initial permit could require an in person visit to verify the validity of the international drivers license and the expiration date, however subsequent permits should be able to be processed online. I’d pay $25 for my time saved over the $10 pittance spent to wait in a queue to get a handwritten document.

Thank you for the opportunity to have a forum to voice this suggestion.

Why do we have to spend hours on end in a line to renew a licence?
1 can we not go online and pay to renew the licence and have it mailed to us?
2 offer it to people under 65 to address possible medical issues. With less people seniors won't have to wait too long.
3 randomly select some portion who have to go into collect it in person.  Which covers corruption.  But if I have paid for the item the time should be less to only collect it.
4 security is improved with less cash at mtw.
5 country productivity would be improved with less time wasted
6 gov't revenue collection would be protected

I agree with this topic ,and in fact think that as many government services as possible should be available online without having to spend hours in queues (sometimes not even getting through with what you want to do), lose time at work (thereby affecting the island's economy and productivity) and then deal with staff who are clearly overworked, unsympathetic or don't care-ish.

In addition something must be done about the car licensing office closing for lunch every day - losing a valuable hour when most people actually have time to go themselves and get their licenses. It is not rocket science to stagger lunch breaks, or to make sure that all staff are trained in all aspects of the operation so that they can be drafted in while someone takes a break.

In this day and age if we can't offer license renewals online - which, as I said, we should be able to - then at least make sure that when we go the BRA in the Pine that the process takes as little time as possible. Also, why do we have to go all the way to the Pine anyway? I live in St Philip - is it too much hassle to set up a satellite office for license renewals. These are small steps that will make a big difference as to whether Barbados moves into the 21st Century or continues to suffer from inertia.
