Increase the bus fare to $3.00. However, more options can be offered. 1. Offer transfers to persons going in the same direction, once they join the other bus within an hour after leaving the first one. This will help those who have to take two buses to go to work. 2. Offer day pass for say $10.00 for those who have multiple trips for one day. 3. Offer $5.00 return fare for same day travel.

Fares need to be increased. You should introduce a card system or tap and pay for the Transport Board buses if you want to keep the fares the same whatever the distance, along with a well thought out and convenient timetable which can be displayed at each stop. You need proper stock and reliable buses first though. Or, you could introduce different fares for example let’s say $7 for a day pass this allows access to any bus until midnight on that day. Return fares of $4.50 and single $3. This should allow you to invest in rolling stock and repairs.
In purchasing new stock, consideration should be given to disabled access, ramps for wheelchairs etc. as well as raising roadside platforms to accommodate these vehicles.

Impose a 50 cents bus fare for school children in uniform. The current policy of letting them ride free was supposed to keep them from catching ZR vans. Clearly this has not worked. It has however helped to deplete the transport board cash flow. So in effect nothing positive has come of it, but a lot of hurt has come to the entire nation including the very children it was meant to help. 50 cents, rather than 1 dollar; I think is reasonable. This would be 50 cents across the board i.e. Transports board and PSVs.
One of the reasons school children catch ZRs is because there is no transport board service or it is limited where they are. For example Silver Hill. The transport Board service on the Sam Lords Castle route, for many years has been over burdened with insufficient bus capacity. Review all routes and increase the bus numbers where possible.
Build a fleet of smaller buses. This would cut down on the number of big buses travelling less profitable routes and free up large buses for profitable routes like Sam Lords Castle and St Patricks for instance. These smaller buses would also be able to better compete with the ZRs and minivans on “time to the next bus stop”. Currently the big buses are too large and lumbering to get to the bus stop before the smaller more nimble ZRs and minivans.
Take a survey of passengers entering the terminals to see exactly where they want to get to vs what bus they are catching so you can plan new routes.
