Loss of Road Tax License
The Road Tax License allowed the police (in a rather inefficient way it must be said) to check on whether car owners had insurance or not.
I would like to suggest a new system where the insurance company has to issue a brightly coloured holographic (so can’t be duplicated) sticker with an easily read date of renewal which would attach to the license plates of all vehicles front and rear.
The advantages are:-
- We can all see at a glance who has up-to-date insurance (or no insurance)
- There would be no cost to government – the insurance companies would have to do it as they would have most to gain.
A similar use of stickers works in Europe and other parts of the world.
