Recently I attended the Vujaday Music Festival here in Barbados and while the music wasn’t to my personal taste it was a likable experience and it struck me we could have all sorts of musical acts here. Create a music festival for up and coming acts of different genres, rock n roll, rap, pop even classical once promoted properly overseas people will come maybe throw in a headline act or two but people love the idea of traveling to go to hear music.
Our local artist, painters sculptures etc, have a hard time getting their work displayed why not get samples from a wide variety of artist and display them in prominent places for free. I saw in Trinidad once around the outside of Queens Park oval huge prints by local artist stuck onto the walls during cricket matches, bright and vibrant against an ordinary white wall of a cricket stadium, this brought huge expose to local artists. We also have a lack of reefs in our surrounding shallow waters why not commission artist to create statues or sculptures that will develop marine growth plus add to the islands product. Please see idea topic called Marine Tourism.

for many years.. over 10, there was a Jazz Festival on the island. Brought in many tourist to see the shows.. and great headlining acts mixed in with local performers. it was a Great Festival and Gilbert Rowe was the producer. I'not sure why it ended but one can guess because of the taxes and high costs of putting on these shows in Barbados.
We had a Classical Music Concert Series in Barbados for the last couple of years. They didn't come back in December 2017. Too much tax involved , too much red tape to get the acts here. stipulations of high payment to government for these acts to "work" while here.. and the list goes on.
The same is true of many of the other music and art festivals that have taken place over the years. too expensive on the island to keep it up (and patrons complain about the cost and don't go because they are soo high).
Vujaday was put on as a collaboration by a local Young tourism player (back by a long time tourism player ) and a Canadian group. They came , they saw, they did great.. and they will be back next year 2019..
