Good evening,
To whom this may concern,
Please do view the following:
1) Every constituency should take on the project of “Community Agriculture” where it is then broken down into small sections across the constituency if it is a big one and get the people in the community involve in coming together and working together to toil, plant, harvest and sell local foods within their community.
- This can aid in communities coming closer together (young and old/ bridging gaps between the age difference).
- Keeping the young people active in agriculture, reduce time to do lawlessness.
- Also introducing the younger generation to the way of agriculture, growing food and eating what you grow individually and as a community.
- Learning tool for all within the community to learn about planting, using plant pots, stones, bricks, drums, buckets, sacks, old fridge etc and ways to take care of some plants using natural methods and items from your kitchen and from the foods we eat.
This venture can be used as a way to transform our communities and Barbados as we know it when it comes to helping others, working together as a community and living a healthier life style. Schools which have property can be utilized and work can be done on evenings after schools or if there is land available can be utilized. The project is also intended to help the less fortunate within the communities as produces will be on sale but yet still available to all. I also see it as a great way to infuse home agriculture to persons. Therefore, we need to get people interested on the creative ways they can grow at home and to grow together as a community to make it work and I strongly believe it can be done. With God all things are possible where ever there is hope as small as mustard seed it can be done. Amen
2) I would also like to start an organization where we get hotels and bakeries, and super markets on board where food items which are good, such as bread, pastries, drinks, cooked food(once under the right temperature) can be donated at the end of the day or time(breakfast, lunch and dinner) these items can be properly transported through the organizations who aid in feeding the homeless in town areas and other locations. Barbados is not big and transportation of cooked food once kept warm and in good conditions required can be transported. The pastries and other foods which do not require certain temperatures would definitely be fine. So instead of these places throwing away food they can donate it which is better than throwing it away and not helping someone else (it can be an act of stewardship). It is time we all work together and make a difference.
- This can help aid those organizations who go out daily to feed the homeless to receive help without having to hustle to raise money or pull money from their pockets to feed the homeless themselves.
- This helps with distribution of food from those who can afford it to those who can’t.
- It also aids in the reduction of wastage as a country.
- Helps build love and consideration for others other than one self.
- It helps transform our way of thinking, community and Barbados from an internationally.
