We are living in the technological age and as a result the way government entities do business should reflect that. More business should be able to be completed online as people do not have the luxury of standing around in lines and sitting around in offices for hours at a time to conduct business. There is absolutely no reason why NIS is still printing checks when so many people in this country have bank accounts. Yes, I understand there is a cost attached when do business with banks but I'm sure the bank which handles transactions for this entity can come to an agreement with a reduced fee when processing electronic transactions due to the frequency.

One specific area for improvement is Tax Clearance Certificates. It seems crazy to be running around to get Tax Clearance certificates when this information is collected by TAMIS. We should be using that not making persons run around to prove that they have paid what's due. I'd rather get a letter saying that I'm delinquent on a tax. My suggestion would be to provide a basic report to officers of whatever department needs it, listing one or more companies to show whether each listed business is compliant/ not compliant or not applicable against each tax. If a business is non compliant, they get a letter to say they need to pay up. Else no correspondence needed.
And what other opportunities does TAMIS give for simplifying our business environment? I bet there are plenty.
