Currently Barbadians owning property valued at $150,000.00 or less do not pay taxes. I am of the view that they should pay a nominal tax.
It is also my belief that the taxes on land on which there is no structure is discriminatory and burdensome. This should be changed and brought in line with other land rates. Why should someone who can't even afford to build a house on the land they own be asked to pay more than someone who has a house and land?
