Good Day ! Mia Amor Mottley (M.A.M)
My name is Mr Ian Forbes and a concern Citizen of Barbados. The current situation that is affecting this little island financially is getting out of hand due to the bad management of the previous Government. Now we have to make new measures and create new ideas and inventries to stop the rapid decline of our economy, then stabilize the island to prepare for a costant growth.
There are a lot of ways to do so,but we need co operation and some sacrifice to venture on our road to recovery. One of my ideas is a manditory work permit form. This form must be issue at the airport, it is recomended for non national from the nabouring caribbean island only who wish to work in Barbados.visitors from other international countries can also obtain one if they choose to work.
The cost for the work permit form is Barbados five hundread dollers, value for six month. The form must be fill out and carry it to the imnigration office along with the five hundread dollers fee, then a temperory NIS number will be issue immeadiatly to the visitor that value for no longer than six month.
So when ever or where ever they got a job they must present that number to the boss, so they can get back there benifit when ever their six month end,if they choose to contunue work, they will have to go home and come back, pay three hundread and renew the same NIS number they got and their work permit is valid again for another six month.
If any one choose not to work they still obligate to pay the one time five hundread fee that is valid for the six month stay. If any employer who dont deside to pay in the nis deduction can be procecuted or fine a fee of five thousand dollers.
Too much money are getting away throo the work permit sceeme, and a lot more can be save on both side.
I am a Jamaicam born and citizen of Barbados for the past decade and i see the massive lost in this sector.non nationals work without work permits on construction sites, funiture factories,on farm and other areas, that cause them to be getting under pay and some time treaten by workers and employer even chase because of their immigration status.
Please look into this matter Miss M.A.M ! Barbados love you and we too.
thanks and much regards.
Yours truly : Ian D Forbes.
