Good evening,

Having participated in the survey disseminated during the course of last week, I had a thought as it relates to the Barbados Defence Force. 

Recently our Commissioner of Police alluded to the fact that the RBPF is in need of more manpower. My suggestion is instead of having to focus on completely new selection and recruitment why not offer the opportunity to some members of the BDF? 

By doing this the numbers are reduced in the BDF if it’s currently “overstaffed” in a sense and the police force would gain an increase in numbers. Additionally, the turnaround time in which this selection process for training and recruitment would be done can be more effectively and the RBPF may be able to focus more on specific niche areas of training to combat crime seeing the BDF folks would be already trained in certain areas as an armed unit.
