- The development of some land for the cultivation and development of by-products of Marijuana (Cannabis) Canada, Germany and the USA are growing it. We should at this stage be producing some of our own alternative medicines.
UK - CBD oil, or cannabidiol, has been available at Holland and Barrett since the start of the year, proving popular among the general public. CBD oil is extracted from the resin glands on cannabis buds and flowers.
The retailer has been selling the oil for £19.99 and over the last four weeks sales have increased by 37 per cent in the last four weeks.
Because of its success, the high street health shop is set to launch four more CBD oil products next month including bigger bottles and CBD capsules.
The oil is said to be able to treat all manner of problems. At the end of last year, a World Health Organisation report revealed it may help successfully treat symptoms relating to Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, MS, pain, anxiety, depression, cancer and diabetic complications.

As a diabetic, in a Country that has such a high percentage of population with this affliction – please review the duty on reduced sugar items, so that there are options for the diabetic to use, rather than being forced to use high sugar items and then going to the hospitals and clinics for “remedies”.

I recently came across an ad from a popular fast food restaurant which was marketing a special to children in uniform. It is know that a healthy population is less expensive than a sick population. Prevention is always better and cheaper than cure. It would be beneficial in the long run if the government of Barbados prohibited fast food companies from marketing their products to children. The children of today are the leader of tomorrow. We should ensure their health and wellness at all cost. In the long run such actions would also have an impact on the number of illness that are cause by obesity and a poor diet. This in return would reduce the need for the services that treat these ailments. Also Research has shown that a poor diet and a diet of mainly fast food has an impact on ones productivity. In conclusion ,in a effort to rebuild Barbados we should prohibit fast food companies from marketing their non nutritious foods to our young generation.

Wealth management, saving and investing should be major part of curriculum. Also, school environment need to be more inclusive of all children, embracing movement, creativity and initiative rather than focusing on test scores, regurgitation of knowledge and class achievers. Looking at learning vocational and academic topics will result in a more well rounded individuals within society. A part of learning should also include science, innovation and technology, with grants being provided to those students who participate in specific projects.
There is also a need to include meditation in physical education to help students manage their mental health. Also, teachers participating in therapy with their students will significantly reduce the psychological problems found among the youth.
