There are many properties in Barbados that are left unkept with rubble and bush. These properties are owned by businesses, nationals and non-nationals. These unkept properties have been headaches for many governmental departments (I.e. ministry of health and the fire departments) over the years and can actually be useful to helping us rebuild our economy both environmental and economic wise.
Property owners, including administrators or executors, should be heavily fined and/or the government should amend the law if necessary to allow it to auction off these properties to recover any costs for cleanup etc. These properties are nuisances for neighbours, visitors and are environmental, fire and safety hazards. Create a hotline for persons to bring anyone in default to the attention of government. You can give a short grace period (90 days) to have the matter rectified but have the structures in place to monitor and follow through when in default. I am certain it will be an income earner for government. The clean up aspect will definitely lead to a beautiful and healthier Barbados.
