Good morning all,

The monkey population is increasing and is impacting negatively on the agricultural and residential areas, we should consider the following:

  • Tag the monkeys to find out the size of the overall population on the island, and further identify the hotspot of the colonies
  • Using the hotspot data, we might be able to move an entire or partial colony to other areas of the island
  • The use of contraception aimed at the men, to control the population size.  Let the natural ageing process, reduce the population
  • Embark on a re-education of the population, to stop the practice of treating them like humans
  • Create other natural habitats for them, the Town & Country Planning Act should be updated or amended to address these environmental concerns.   Copse should require special permission before being removed to preserve our natural woodland and wood species – species like Cordia are used to make furniture and guitar backs and therefore should be preserved and explored as ways to diversify the manufacturing sector.
