Situation:
Many structures both public and private in high visibility areas remain unwashed and upainted making an eyesore for visitors and locals alike. This give a negative impression of Barbados that we cannot maintain our structures.
Aim: Beautify Barbados by repainting structures both public and private in high visibiity areas to improve the environment for residents and visitors.
My idea ids to repurpose a Transport Board Bus using support from the main paint companies operating in Barbados.
This will be extremely bright and colourful with their logos and ads all over.
This can be repainted and shared as a moving advertisement board for the companies.
Once operational the bus will move around Barbados and pick up like minded volunteers who are community spirited and interested in improving and beautifying identified locations in Barbados.
Advertising will be done on Facebook and social media with a target of the youth under 25 years of age.
Materials to be supplied by major paint companies and other corporate sponsors we can get onboard.
Pre identified locations will be dealt with in "Sprints" 4-6 hour targeted work times. Work times will be non work day hours. That is outside the regular 8-4 workday.
Momentum will be built by striking "before" and "after" images instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment for volunteers and followers on our platforms.
Next Steps:
- Identify Bus and costing to repurpose
- Create document we can shop to paint companies and other (Carters H&B etc) for sponsorship
- Create social media platforms and social awareness
- Identify key locations island wide for cleaning/repainting
- Create calendar - do test events over 6 months and create key learnings from events.
What Success could look like:

And FINALLY For Barbados:
This is an idea I would be interest din helping develop if GOB is keen. This would be obviously done as a not for profit and any money or funds would be re invested in the project.
