I advocate that Barbados engage into a major renewable energy policy, in order to save its hard currency to rebuild infrastructures, finance schools and hospitals, and repay its debt.
We can do it if we stop wasting our limited cash on petrol imports.

Good day,
My idea to improve our society is to simply encourage citizens to install photo-voltaic systems on their homes as well as purchasing electrical and solar powered vehicles.
This can be achieved by producing incentives such as selling photo-voltaic systems to persons who of course are in average to good financial standing, where they could pay a similar price to their average electrical bill monthly for their system (A technique similar to the BWA's water tank initiative). This method would not only allow for persons to afford the system but see profits from feed-in tariffs after they have paid back the government. The government can benefit from this in various ways such as reducing the fuel bill in terms of light and power generating electricity, making a profit from the loan system to persons who purchase the systems and of course being more green-friendly.
In terms of the below average Barbadians, avenues can be implemented where some of these persons are granted free partial systems to reduce a percentage of their electricity bill. As I have realized, many government buildings are installing photo-voltaic systems which is very wise. This idea should be pushed towards established businesses and corporations in Barbados, to install an alternative energy systems on their buildings to reduce their energy needs from the light and power. This can be added as a requirement in the building code for proposed larger buildings.
Also, the duties on alternative energy equipment, machinery and systems can be reduced so that companies invested in this field could pass on those reduced costs to Barbadians.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of my proposal.

Have an agreement with the Chinese government to educate apt Barbadian youth in the gnosis and implementation of Solar Energy. Once individuals learn this process, the cost from start to finish can be greatly reduced...no need for these extravagant sums of money per individual. Equipped with this knowledge these individuals can now become and asset to the island and even travel abroad and aid others. As is the case with one individual Barbadian who has used Solar and Wind Energy to power his house. " We must make hay whilst the Sun shine"
