Good day,

Having heard the announcent of this initiative via radio ad, I suggest the following:

. Implement(mandate if necessary) single sort practices for waste disposal, this would allow for a more efficient approach to recyling and waste management, hence provide great opportunity for the country to earn and also maintain higher enviromental standards.

. Harvest methane gas naturally produced by our landfill rather than burn it off, this is wastage of a resource produced by minimal process.

. Mandate for any Energy Utility provider(currently BL&P) to have it's main operations and production of energy generated solely by way of renewable sources by 2030 and that atleast 60% of this has to be implemented by 2022 or pay some manner of penalty to the country. A 2045 deadline is ridiculous by any measure for a company to convert completely to renewable sources and they should also not be allowed to recover cost by price increase as all renewable technology implemented will only serve to save them money and only savings should be passed on to customers as time goes by not futher hardship.

. Reduce duties/fees on imported pure electric vehicles to 20% or less. This will be an overwhelming incentive for our country to move forward to a greener, cleaner and more sensible means of transport. Our reliance on fossil fuels will only serve to our hollistic detriment.

. As already being seen, implement renewable energy technologies for all government and government related buildings/structures and operations.

. Mandate that all utility providers(communication, water, gas, etc.) implement renewable energy technolgies into their businesses in every possible area.

. Implement asphalt recycling, this is a cost effective approach to maintaining our road's quality, this would reduce our need for large quantities of virgin asphalt, hence reducing spending and delays in carrying out road repairs.

I can't stress the logic and importance of a country like Barbados implementing Renewable Energy technologies in every way possible, especially at this point in history where costs are at an all time low, we seem to be heading in the right direction but not at a fast enough pace. Energy Independence will ensure that we have a future to look forward to.

I hope these suggestions actually reach someone and I haven't wasted my time.

Sama

Please consider,

I believe it was Denzil Douglas suggesting that both Dominica and Nevis were developing an incredible source of geothermal energy with Iceland charging the way. The sharing with the rest of the Caribbean...that very much like the Venezuelan ‘sharing’ was the idea. This needs to be looked into simultaneously encouraging diversified dealers of electric etc vehicles and the use of smart energy.
