I would like to have a forum where the role of Physical Education can be discussed in a holistic manner; considering its potential for economic generation and social progress.

I agree that the role of Physical Education (PE) and its beneficial rippling effects should to evaluated, but I believe that we need to start by clearly defining what PE within our schools (pre CXC) should look like.

Suggestion- PE Curriculum Reform (Primary and Secondary Schools)

If we look across Barbadian primary and secondary schools, in my opinion PE has become a misnomer pre CXC. What we primarily see being taught is sport, not PE. This creates an unhealthy association with PE for many, hence why adherence to PE classes diminishes with increasing school age, and falls even further post school age. We need a clearly defined PE syllabus that is inclusive, develops physical qualities as oppose to having a sports bias, has  a comprehensive physical literacy curriculum, and encourages implicit learning (especially at the primary school level).
