I am a vehicle fleet mamagement consultant.

I want to suggest a number of ways to lower operating cost of all Government and corporation owned vehicles and equipment.

  1. Place all vehicles and equipment under one fleet management system, which can be departmentalised with access to those areas identified.
  2. This will allow the ministry of finance to gather expenses from all areas, and analyze the data. The data will be gathered in specific categories (brakes, service, suspension, etc as well as a planned preventative maintenance section, based on miles/ kilometers, hours, time etc).

  1. Rationalise the purchase and distribution of vehicles and equipment based on needs and departmental functions.

  1. Negotiate with vehicle dealers for specific discounts based on volumes and total spend with them.

  1. Train all drivers in advanced driver techniques, which help lower fuel and maintenance cost.

  1. The fleet management system can also monitor fuel use and economy rate by vehicle type, dept, internal and external fueling.

Government already has a system that would fit this need, but would need expanding to accommodate all vehicles.

This programme is called RTA fleet management system, and is currently available for review at the Sanitation Service Authority.

I had helped them to install and train staff to use and evaluate reports on vehicle maintenance cost. Not sure if they are using it at the moment.

  1. If cost are controlled and efficiency measures put in place, then significant savings can be attained, with total cost being seen in real time by ministry of finance.

Eash department will have access to their areas only, but finance can see all reporting for each one.

They are all password protected.

I would appreciate if I could be given a chance to assist in helping my Country move forward from its current situation

Thank you
