Greetings

A pleasant and wonderful day to you

Let me first of all begin by expressing my thanks and gratitude to you for giving us the members of the public the opportunity to play our part in the rebuilding and developmental process of our beautiful country which we call home- Barbados. I certainly hope that with such an opportunity I would be able to significantly contribute to this process by way of a project which I wish to present to you today.

Let me say from the outset that my heart and soul is for the social and community developmental landscape of Barbados. I have been fortunate to be apart of various groups across the island which has assisted me with my growth as a young man and it is from this perspective that I feel compelled to give back to our communities in a comprehensive way. Briefly about myself, I am 31 years old, married for 7 years and father to two beautiful children Joshua (5) and Ethan (2). I have purposefully mentioned them because they are the reason why I get up and go to work everyday and the same opportunities which I want to give them as children to grow up in a better Barbados, it is my hope to extend these opportunities to others.

It is for this reason that I endeavor to establish a non-profit Organization: "The Barbados Community Development Organization"

Our Mission Statement is : "To be the viable medium of community development throughout Barbados by way of a range of projects and programs encompassing various technical and vocational disciplines".

Core Values: "Empowerment, Education, Entertainment"

Our Motto is: "Working hand in hand to transform Barbados"

As we all know, the Government will have a long and hard task of recovering the economy of Barbados. It will call for much time, effort and resources. However, in order for us to have a well balanced country, we need to have strong economy and also a equally strong social society; these inevitably will be the pillars of strong nationhood in our rebuilding efforts. This organization will be established to address the social aspects of our society in a comprehensive manner all across the island. We intend and endeavor to establish a wide range of projects/programs in various fields in every of the thirty (30) constituencies in Barbados. Our aim is to work with establish groups across the island with our projects and programs as we seek to make our communities more active and more vibrant. The fields which I aim to work in for our programs are listed below:

In closing, this a brief introduction of a project proposal to the Government of Barbados for the social and community developmental process all across the island. Our aim is to work with already established groups and create specific programs to reach every and anyone on the island. We also commit to working with the private sector and corporate Barbados to assist us in this process and we hope that you the Government of Barbados would seriously consider this project as it would assist in the current and future development and transformation of Barbados.
