Barbados continues to miss out on the opportunity to tap into the billions of dollars in foreign exchange that can be earned from exporting fish, poultry and dairy to the European Union (Review import stats for the EU).
For some time there has been a move to introduce the institutional changes and required legislation designating a certifying agency to undertake the approval of the food items in question for export. In addition, an approved laboratory is also necessary to meet the requirements of the EU. Let us work to get these things in place to contribute to greater exports and foreign exchange earnings.
