Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus. HIV attacks the body's immune system. People infected with HIV may have no symptoms for ten years or more. They may not know that they are infected. An HIV test is the only way to find out if you have HIV.
National Initiative for Service Excellence (NISE)
The National Initiative for Service Excellence (NISE) is an organisation created by the Social Partners in 2004, for the people of Barbados to raise the level of service and competitiveness in Barbados to world class levels of excellence.
This initiative was formulated out of the need to improve the quality of service delivery in Barbados to a standard of world-class excellence. This was regarded to be critical, particularly if the country was to achieve and maintain a competitive edge in increasingly globalised environment.
The goals of NISE are:
- To create a national culture of service excellence
- To help Barbados become known worldwide for Service Excellence and
- To motivate and provide the tools for all Barbadians to become involved in the achievement of Service Excellence
To achieve its objectives, this entity has to date undertaken a series of activities, ranging from the conduct of national studies in such areas as service quality and absenteeism, to providing customer services training to employees from organizations in various economic sectors such as hospitality, agriculture and manufacturing. The publication of a wide range of material, pertaining to the delivery of a high standard of service to customers has also been a critical feature of NISE.
Another major development for NISE has been its approval as a centre for the delivery of National Vocational Qualifications (N.V.Qs) in customer service which are awarded by the TVET Council.
