The Barbados Vocational Training Board (BVTB) recently staged a make-up soirée and from all indications, it was a resounding a success!

Hosted by the students of the make-up artistry evening class, patrons were treated to fabulous make overs, while trainees had an opportunity to practise their newly found craft.

Call For Safety Committees In Work Places

As this country continues to sign bilateral trade agreements, pursue foreign direct investment and attract tourists from non-traditional markets, there is an imperative need for its citizens to develop their language skills. 

This observation has come from Minister of Labour and Social Security, Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, who is urging Barbadians to learn a foreign language.

HIV-Related Discrimination Threatens Labour Force

Statistics have revealed that HIV infection is concentrated largely amongst the working population, putting persons in the highest economically productive age group in Barbados and the labour force at risk.

Emphasising that Government is committed to giving the highest priority to HIV and AIDS, Minister of Labour and Social Security, Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, noted that her Ministry was particularly concerned “about the effect of the HIV pandemic on the labour force in Barbados.”
