Sargassum as tea and food

The Sargassum seaweed is high in iodine and should be promoted as a food once it is tested and certified as no toxins.  Sargassum can be a  staple with rice, sauteed in butter with garlic and onions or like the Chinese in soy sauce.

It is not recommended that the 2 sargassum species that are currently part of the influx in the Caribbean be consumed. Greater research must also be conducted on the levels of arsenic in sargassum.
