The EGFL is a limited liability company incorporated on January 2, 1998. It was established to provide venture capital (equity based financing) and technical assistance to emerging small companies, with strong profit making potential.
2. Q Why was this company created?
A
The creation of this company grew out of a recognised need for venture capital financing and the constraints which this has placed on the development of small and medium sized businesses in Barbados.
3. Q What is the objective of the fund?
A
Its primary function is to make investments in small or medium sized Barbadian owned private sector enterprises located in Barbados. Such investments must have the potential to contribute significant value added to the Barbadian economy by increasing foreign exchange earnings and/or employment. These investments should also have the potential to provide EGFL with significant capital appreciation.
4. Q What additional services will EGFL provide?

In addition to providing venture capital, the company's function will include the provision of managerial and business expertise to investee companies through participation on their Boards of Directors. Other services will be of a financial nature and will include liability management. EGFL will also seek to strengthen the Barbados Securities Market by aiming to make available shares of investee companies to the Unlisted Securities Market and to divest its holdings through this medium where appropriate.

In order to make a meaningful assessment of your business the EGFL would like to discuss with you your company's business plan, including its financial and management structure, and its marketing and growth strategies for the next three to four years. You should also make available your company' current and/or most recent audited financial statements.
